"Carinthiacus" 2024: Honoring Outstanding People in Carinthia
The “Carinthiacus”, established by Regionmarketing Carinthia, celebrates individuals whose contributions make Carinthia’s appeal and innovative strength visible both nationally and internationally. Presented for the second time after its premiere in 2022, the Carinthiacus is a symbol of recognition and appreciation.
Klagenfurt, 18/11/2024 -The “Carinthiacus”, established by Regionmarketing Carinthia, celebrates individuals whose contributions make Carinthia’s appeal and innovative strength visible both nationally and internationally. Presented for the second time after its premiere in 2022, the Carinthiacus is a symbol of recognition and appreciation.
In the category International, Nastaran Behravan was honored for her dedication and achievements. As a Junior Scientist at Silicon Austria Labs GmbH, she is a pioneer in the development of piezoelectric and ferroelectric thin films for MEMS applications (micro-electromechanical systems), which are essential for tiny sensors and actuators used in everyday devices like smartphones and cars. Her focus on sustainable, lead-free alternatives such as aluminum nitride and aluminum-scandium nitride significantly contributes to advancing sustainable technology development.
In the category National, Christof Weissenseer was recognized for his vital role in strengthening Carinthia as a business location. As the third-generation head of Weissenseer Holz-System-Bau GmbH, he has made his mark in sustainable construction. His company specializes in energy-positive buildings and CO₂-reducing materials, such as wood and recyclable building components. Weissenseer actively participates in research projects to develop environmentally friendly and deconstructable construction methods, promoting a regional circular economy.
With almost 4,000 votes cast in an open online voting process, the winners were chosen from a shortlist of six nominees in two categories, curated by a distinguished jury of business experts.
The awards were presented by Governor Dr. Peter Kaiser and Deputy Governor Martin Gruber, who expressed their admiration and appreciation for the winners at the “Spiegelsaal” of the Carinthian regional governement. The jury particularly commended the dedication and passion of the honorees in promoting Carinthia’s attractiveness as a business, education and research location.
Initiated and organized by Regionmarketing Carinthia, the “Carinthiacus” Award recognizes and supports individuals who shape the identity and future of Carinthia while promoting a positive image of the region. With this award, Carinthia sends a strong message of appreciation and encouragement for exceptional achievements, both locally and internationally.
