Carinthia Secures Europe's First Hydrogen Valley
Carinthia, Upper Austria, and Styria are launching Europe’s first Hydrogen Valley, a milestone in industrial decarbonization.
Strategic Investment & Regional Leadership: With a total investment of €578 million by 2030, including €20 million in EU funding, Carinthia is set to become a key player. Its location along a major hydrogen pipeline makes it a prime hub for advancing hydrogen infrastructure and applications.
Driving a Sustainable Future: The Hydrogen Valley will integrate hydrogen into industry, mobility, and households, with over 40 regional companies committed to the project. Covering the entire hydrogen value chain, it will include production, transport, storage, and application in key industries. This initiative is crucial for creating a cleaner, more sustainable economy.
A Strong Foundation for Growth: Carinthia’s Hydrogen Roadmap 2030, based on a 2020 potential analysis, aims to quadruple hydrogen use in industry, heavy transport, and public mobility while ensuring its production from green energy sources. Hydrogen-powered buses are already in use, marking the first step toward a future of clean energy solutions.
