A Network of Services Supporting Those Who Choose to Live and Invest in Carinthia
The Austrian Business Agency supports individuals and companies from all over the world in relocating and doing business in Austria. We speak with Margit Kreuzhuber, Head of the WORK in AUSTRIA department, to explore the services offered and the organisational network available to newcomers.
Could you describe your role and explain how your organisation contributes to ensuring stability and security for people who choose to live or invest in Carinthia/Austria?
Margit: Our agency, owned by the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, serves as Austria’s location agency, with three main business areas: INVEST in AUSTRIA, WORK in AUSTRIA, and FILM in AUSTRIA. I am the head of the WORK in AUSTRIA department. We promote Austria as a destination for skilled professionals in select focus countries, primarily in the fields of IT, technology and life sciences. As part of our legal mandate, we advise Austrian companies, skilled workers and their families on immigration procedures. In addition, we provide comprehensive services on living and working in Austria. We offer the following digital tools via our website www.workinaustria: Our Talent Hub brings together international professionals and Austrian companies. Our Immigration Guide provides a concise overview of individual immigration opportunities and the next steps for moving to Austria. Our Personal Guide provides comprehensive information on living and working in Austria, covering everything from the healthcare system and education to bringing pets to Austria.
What government initiatives or institutional measures are currently in place to support the settlement of individuals and businesses, and how do they reinforce Carinthia’s reputation as a stable and secure region?
Margit: We are active in countries with a particularly high immigration potential. These include Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Kosovo, Albania, Brazil, the Philippines and Indonesia. Bilateral agreements are also in place with certain countries, such as the Philippines and Indonesia. As a department of the Austrian Business Agency, WORK in AUSTRIA provides free support to international companies and skilled workers on behalf of the Republic of Austria. We work closely with all relevant stakeholders at the federal and state level, in particular with the CWC and CIC in Carinthia. We highlight the unique features and job opportunities of each region and actively connect with local stakeholders whenever we receive inquiries.
What specific benefits does this environment of stability and security bring to the daily lives of families, professionals and businesses in Carinthia?
Margit: In our work, particularly in overseas markets, we see that Austria scores highly not only in terms of diverse career opportunities, but also in terms of security and stability. Good conditions for family members are also very important.
