Silicon Austria Labs: 30 millions for climate protection
To advance the development and use of key technologies for climate protection and the circular economy.
The top research center Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) receives 30 million euros from the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection in order to advance the development and use of key technologies for climate protection and the circular economy. This also finances the construction of research infrastructure in Graz, Villach and Linz.
Electronic-Based Systems (EBS) play a key role in climate protection
In terms of content, the research teams at SAL deal with future technologies in the areas of power density, more-than-Moore technologies, photonics, 6G and dependent EBS. These five so-called “lighthouses” play an important role in climate protection. Developments such as e-mobility, clean energy or smart health are reflected in a wide variety of projects.
A big part of the budget will go into the construction of a new clean room at the High Tech Campus in Villach, which will be the largest research clean room in Austria with an area of 1000 square meters.
