Dancing with the Stars
Spidercam Robotics delights millions of viewers worldwide. Unbeknown to these audiences, the “spider camera” developed in Carinthia is the star performer at ATP tournaments, UEFA matches and casting shows. And the Spidercam’s manufacturer is revolutionising more than the broadcasting industry from its base in Feistritz im Rosental
Bringing Events Uniquely To Life
Professionals all over the world rely on the Spidercam. When they want to deliver discreet yet close-up spectacular images in superb quality, they reach for the “spider camera”: for example, on the TV show “Dancing with the Stars” in LA, at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Metallica Anniversary Show in San Francisco (as well as the World Tour), German Bundesliga matches, the UEFA EURO 2020, ATP tennis tournaments or in Paris commemorating Josephine Baker. The Spidercam delivers victories, defeats and triumphs straight to the living room bringing events uniquely to life for the viewer.
High-Flyer in the Region with a Traditionally High Quality of Life
The company has offices in the USA, Australia and Germany. But a business that wants to grow needs strong roots. Spidercam Robotics’ roots are in southern Austria: in the business park in “Feistritz im Rosental”, Carinthia. The 40km-long Rosental valley borders the Karawanken mountain range in the south and is also well known as the “Genussregion Rosentaler Carnica Biene” and as a member of the Genussregion Österreich initiative set up to promote authentic, regional products. The honey produced by the local “Carnica” honey bee has been included in the Registry of Traditional Foods. This is where the company’s headquarters is based. Here in Carinthia, 16 specialists develop, service and repair the camera robots that are used all over the world.
The company’s neighbours in the business park include Microporous, the world’s leading supplier of lead-acid battery separators and M4P Material Solutions that provides material solutions for metall-3D-print products.
Georg Peters appreciates his homebase in Carinthia immensely. Here he has a network of well-trained graduates from the University of Klagenfurt, the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and from the technical colleges. This is a crucial factor, as skilled workers and specialists with know-how and expertise in software development, mechanics, mechatronics, and robotics are essential for the further development of the complex systems.
Georg Peters is equally appreciative of the educational institutions and funding agencies in Carinthia.

Carinthia’s Other Advantages
“Swarm Intelligence”
Networks are vital: Within the framework of joint research activities, Spidercam Robotics has regular contact with educational establishments and research institutes: for example with the Institute for Intelligent System Sciences of Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt. Johanneum Research’s Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at the Lakeside Science & Technology Park, the ETH in Zurich or the DFKI Bremen are welcome project partners. Together with the latter, Spidercam is investigating how satellites can dock with each other in space more easily and safely.
And that’s not all: Georg Peters is already thinking about new green tech applications for the Spidercam. Environmental conditions such as the climate, soil, and location all impact plant growth. Digitalisation and the vision of the Farm 4.0 is advancing quickly in the agricultural sector. As a result, Peters and his research partners have more than enough to do. In the field of phenotyping and non-invasive measurement of crop plant health, Spidercam is already offering new options designed to eliminate the disadvantages of drones and cranes. “We are going to be at the forefront of this new trend,” Peters is convinced.
